This page is an experimental page.
WELCOME TO THIS SITE! This website is called "China Landscapes" because I am working on documenting some of the cultural landscapes of China. For the moment this involves the cultural landscapes of the Miao peoples of southwest China. For this, please refer the the web page entitled "Miao Landscapes". However, this is also my personal website and so you can find my cv and a short description of my professional background on the page entitled, "Bio". I have started to upload certain articles under the page heading, "Articles". The so-called 'Blog' page is updated only periodically, after a major event or after an important trip.
Uppermost on my 'radar' these days are: A) The two places where our two sons' families live and work: Shanghai, in the case of Tim, and Kyrgyzstan (and until recently, western China) in the case of Marc.. Marc is a conservation biologist and founder of Plateau Perspectives (http://www.plateauperspectives.org ) and Tim is a medical doctor working in eastern China. B) The Miao peoples of Southwest China (population: over 9 million). Please scroll down to see a section on my Blog page discussing just who the Miao peoples of China are. And, finally, C) My other preoccupation is the work of Plateau Perspectives (a Canadian charity that promotes sustainable community development and conservation in the Tibetan Plateau and Central Asian highland regions).
My wife's name is Beth and we just recently celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary.
